Nepalese in United States raised black flags to the Prime Minister of Nepal Babu Ram Bhattarai at a program in Chain Federation Hall of Queens, New York, organized by the Mission of Nepal. Led by Co-Founder and Advisor of United Nationalist Nepalese, Mr. Bishal Shah, Bandana Koirala, Kunti Thapa and Binita Nakarmi, protestors raised black flags and shouted slogans against Bhattarai and the Maoists atrocities. Nepal Maoists have been credited with the killing of 13,000 Nepalese during civil war.

At the event, Bhattarai was about to speak on Nepal’s natural resources. Mr. Shah interrupted the Prime Minister Bhattarai and questioned him, “Is it not you and your criminal party who destroyed and is continuing to destroy the natural resources and national properties of Nepal?”. Thereafter, the protestors showed black flags and shouted slogans like “we love our national dress; you cannot demolish the national pride; you cannot fire the guns here; we don’t need killer as Prime Minister” and so on. The large numbers of Nepalese Community gathered to listen to Bhattarai gave applauded the protestors remarks. The program was briefly interrupted. Protestors left the venue politely after the request of Nepalese community members. This incident raises the truth that not all Nepalese stay quite when a nation and the nationals are robbed.
In more than a decade, Nepal has not conducted a parliamentary election. Political parties do not seem to be in mood to consider conducting an election. Approximately 20,000 people were killed in the civil war and the parties entered into a peace deal. However, since then, they have miserably failed to restore peace in the nation. Although the civil war officially ended, crime rate rose to peak in Nepal history. More people are affected by the crime now than they were affected in the Civil War.
